A fundraising event for a local cat-rescue charity will be held tomorrow at The Banner Cross pub on Ecclesall Road.
Cat-CHING Sheffield received a generous donation from the pub and were given free use of its function room to host the event.
The charity promises to offer plenty of stalls on the day including tombola, a cake sale and much more.
A spokesperson for Cat-CHING Sheffield said: “Initially, we organised the event as a face-to-face meet up with our volunteers and supporters. We decided to open it up to the general public to raise money and help them get to know us.
“We are hopeful that the day will be a real success. We have already been blown away by the support with donations for the fundraising day.”
The volunteer-run charity was originally set up back in April 2019 and became fully-registered in December 2020.
Their work includes rescuing homeless and unwanted cats and finding new homes for them with local families.
The charity also offers a ‘Free Neuter’ scheme that helps support owners with the cost of neutering their cats. This is part of their focus on reducing the overpopulation of cats in Sheffield.
They said: “We feel our work is an important part of Sheffield’s community as there is an absolutely massive issue with homeless cats in Sheffield and the existing charities and rescues are unable to deal with this alone.”
The fundraiser tomorrow will begin at 2pm and gives Cat-CHING a chance to thank its supporters in person after such a long period of virtual communication through the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is also an opportunity for people who haven’t heard of the charity to come and understand the work they do within the community.
