Sheffield Museums have recently received an ongoing fund from Arts Council England.
The three-year funding project means the trust will continuously receive £814,720 each year from 2023 to 2026.
The Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust is an independent charity established in 2021 that runs for different museums through Sheffield including Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Graves Gallery, Kelham Island Museum, Millennium Gallery, Shepherd Wheel Workshop, and Weston Park Museum.
Kim Streets, Chief Executive of Sheffield Museums Trust, said: “We’re hugely grateful to Arts Council England for their continued investment in Sheffield Museums. National Portfolio Organisation funding plays a vital role in supporting our work across the city’s museums and beyond.
“We’re looking forward to working collaboratively over the next three years to provide meaningful, inspiring experiences for people throughout the city and the wider region.”
The Trust says that this money will help support the work that museums do to build a better city and develop the museums.
Sheffield City Archives said: “Although we are separate organisations, we have worked closely with Sheffield Museums on various projects over the years, and always try our best to support local heritage projects in which the Museums are involved, and so the news of funding to help secure the future of museums in Sheffield is especially welcomed to us!”
They aim to leave a lasting legacy. Depending on the museum, there are different engaging educational activities everyone can participate in with the aim of creating and building the future generation.
These activities range from art classes and drawing classes, to creating your own Christmas wreaths.
Sheffield Museums have different workshops aimed at different age groups for schools, universities and colleges as well as families.
You can find a workshop tailored to you: they vary from hands-on workshops and activities to site tours. The subjects offered to classes that visit differ from geography and science, to history and art. Group tours can be organised as well.
