Sheffield Central MP Paul Blomfield has announced his support for Abtisam Mohamed in the upcoming Labour election.

Mr Blomfield has been Sheffield Central’s MP for 12 years but is stepping down at the next General Election.

He said: “I have campaigned with Abtisam Mohamed on issues from childcare to investment in Sheffield.

“She has got the experience, values and energy to make a great MP for Sheffield Central and I am delighted to support her.”

He announced his support on Twitter with a video endorsing Ms Mohamed’s campaign.

Ms Mohamed is one of seven candidates in the race to become the next Labour MP for Sheffield Central.

Her rivals include Abdi Suleiman, Eddie Izzard, Jayne Dunn, Mike Buckley, Paul Mason and Rizwana Lala.
