With six goals and four red cards, Paul Heckingbottom rightly described Sheffield United’s draw at home today as ‘Chaotic’.
The Blades got off to a flying start, with James McAtee scoring after just 8 minutes thanks to a Billy Sharp assist.
Iliman Ndiaye then bundled in a header just before the half-hour mark, after Blackpool once again failed to clear the ball from their own box following a cross from the right-hand side.
Blackpool quickly responded though with Jerry Yates grabbing a double in 12 minutes to bring the scores level before halftime, his second goal being scored with an impressive volley from a Shayne Lavery cross.
After the break, the Tangerines kept the momentum, with Kenny Dougall slotting the ball home on the 50-minute mark.
After losing control of the game Sheffield launched a barrage of attacks for the rest of the second half, with Blackpool getting both Dominic Thompson and Marvin Ekpiteta sent off for double yellow cards.
With Blackpool down to nine men, United won a penalty, only for Rhian Brewster to smash the ball against the right-hand post.
It looked like United would be suffering yet another home disappointment, only for Oliver Norwood to score what will surely go down as one of the goals of the season in the 98th minute.
The Northern Irishman volleyed the ball home from outside the box after the Seasiders cleared from a corner, sending the home fans into pandemonium.
Tensions boiled over after the final whistle, with Wes Foderingham having a moment of madness, throwing Lavery to the ground after a verbal confrontation.
Referee David Webb then sent both off with straight red cards after the brawl between players was broken up.
The game was an emotional rollercoaster and is sure to go down as a Championship classic.
